We made it, we qualified!
Every 8 seconds the oldest of the Baby Boomers turns 65 this year. That’s me! I cannot wait to use my new Medicare card. I haven’t been this thrilled to turn a certain age since I got my drivers license. Here’s the bad news: How did I get to be this old? Here’s the good news: Yea, I got to be this old. It’s a bitter sweet victory. I feel very fortunate to have gotten this far and still feel good about almost everything. Fortunately, I live in an area where everyone takes Medicare. All the “docs” would starve to death if they didn’t. Next week I intend to make all my medical appointments and proudly use my new card.
on to other issues…
The graying of america–but how do we know?
My mother colored her hair until 94 when she died so I recently decided to let my hair grow out and see what I looked like with the new salt and pepper look. My new hair stylist who looks like she is 14 years old said she thought I would look good with the new color whatever it might be so I decided to give it a try. First, I went to a wig store and tried on a gray wig. The guy in the store said he liked it so that substantiated my thinking. Next, I let my hair grow out slowly so the change wouldn’t be sudden and shocking. After a few months I started to get the drift what I would look like. Now, I am totally salt and pepper and so far I am happy with the way I look. Now, I have to change all my web site pictures to my new look. I cannot say that more women are thinking about letting their hair go natural, men don’t seem to have the stigma the way we do, but it is something to think about? Now when I look at other women who color their hair I try to picture what they would look like with my hair color. At least I have Jamie Lee Curtis backing me up with the “natural” look.
Finally: Do you find it’s taking you longer in the bathroom to get ready for bed at night? Having to wash and cream your face, brush and floss your teeth and now brush your gums, take all your new vitamins and supplements, tweeze the stray hairs on your face, drink water to flush out your kidneys, massage your cuticles and balance on each leg as you are doing all this other stuff takes just short of forever. I get worn out just thinking about the ritual. Sweet Dreams!
