When I was 4 1/2 and heading to my first day at Kindergarten, I announced to my mom that I was now a big girl and didn’t have to nap any longer. It didn’t matter that we had rest time in school on our little mats, it was no real naps for me.
Recently, this has changed. Now that all my seasonal clients have gone home and the temperature hovers around a blistering 108, a nap was something I decided to try again. Am I digressing to 4 again, maybe? Since I now arise at 5:15am to play Pickleball before the heat hits, I could be pooped by early afternoon. Of course I might be exhausted from years of double booking every hour of my life and now I have made time to wind down and relax. Most likely.
My Pickleball sparring partner today at 6:30am announced she couldn’t wait to get home to nap. Oh my, this is contagious. We Boomers are dropping like flies into our cozy beds while the sun brightly shines in the afternoon, to read a book, calm down and close our eyes, shutting out the tensions of the world for a while.
What a glorious experience. I relish the opportunity to nap almost every day from now on. I adorn my blackout mask and within 10 minutes, I am out. Sometimes, I forget where I am and what day it is. After resting for an hour or so, my body feels as if gravity has eased off a bit and my mind is more alert.
Oh dear, it’s nap time-off I go for my afternoon ZZZ’s.
Tip of the day:
WOMEN- Don’t carry a purse, wear a backpack purse.
MEN- look cool and stand up straight-wear a backpack at home or out and about. Great posture becomes you.
